Welvista, with the support of our pharmaceutical partners, operates a free mail order pharmacy that serves low income, uninsured residents of South Carolina. Our pharmaceutical partners are Abbvie, Astra Zeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson Patient Assistance Foundation, Lilly, Merck, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, and Takeda. Through this program, we are able to offer prescription medications free of charge to our eligible patients.
In 2014, Welvista dispensed 91,830 prescriptions valued at $63,387,022 million to 13,291 uninsured patients in South Carolina. This service, including shipping of the medications to our patients, is completely free.
Prescriptions are filled for a 90 day supply whenever possible and patients may request refills 80 days after the fill date. This provides a 10 day window to refill and ship the medication to the patients. Welvista’s goal is to offer a one stop pharmacy for our patients’ chronic medications and provide our patients with the same pharmaceutical experience that an insured (paying) patient can receive at a mail order pharmacy.
We have an interactive voice response system for patients to request refills, pharmacists available Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5pm for medication counseling, a dedicated voice mail for physicians, an e prescribing option for physicians and a dedicated pharmacy technician to speak with patients if they prefer to talk to a live person.
